Fort Leonard Wood – MO
Home to the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence (MSCoE), Fort Leonard Wood trains and educates service members and develops doctrine and capabilities for the Training and Doctrine Command’s U.S. Army Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear School, U.S. Army Engineer School, U.S. Army Military Police School, and the U.S. Army Prime Power School.
Fort Riley – KS
“Home of the Big Red One” (1st Infantry Division), Fort Riley is known for its excellent training, abundant recreational opportunities, rich history, and tremendous relations with surrounding communities.
McConnell AFB – KS
McConnell Air Force Base is the home of the 22nd Air Refueling Wing that delivers total force mission ready Airmen and KC 46 Pegasus mobility to combatant commanders through robust installation support.
Offutt AFB – NE
Offutt Air Force Base is the host station for the 55th Wing (55 WG), the largest wing of the United States Air Force’s Air Combat Command. Additionally, the base is home to many significant associate units, including US Strategic Command Headquarters, the Air Force Weather Agency, the Omaha operating location of the Defense Finance and Accounting Service, and many others.
Scott AFB – IL
Scott Air Force Base is a global mobility and transportation hub for the Department of Defense. The base is home to several command and control elements that represent logistics for the United States military in air, over land and across the sea including the U.S. Transportation Command, the Air Mobility Command, the 618th Air and Space Operations Center (Tanker Airlift Control Center), and the Air Force Network Integration Center. Scott Air Force Base is also one of four bases in the Air Force to host both a Reserve unit, the 932nd Airlift Wing, and an Air National Guard unit, the 126th Air Refueling Wing.
Whiteman AFB – MO
Whiteman Air Force Base is a joint-service base that is host to the Air Force’s 509th Bomb Wing (AFGSC) and the 131st Bomb Wing (MO National Guard), operators of the nation’s only B-2 Spirit Bombers; the 442nd Fighter Wing (AFRC) flying the A-10 Thunderbolt II; the 20th Attack Squadron, 432nd Wing (ACC) operating MQ-9 Reapers; 1-135th Assault Helicopter BN (MO National Guard)
Additional Military Installations
The 139th Airlift Wing has been at Rosecrans Air National Guard Base, St Joseph, Missouri since 1947 and represents the Missouri National Guard’s largest base operation in Missouri. The 139th Airlift Wing is a Mobility Air Force unit that operates the C-130H tactical airlifter used for both domestic and wartime missions. In addition to the C130H operations, the 139th is also home to unique and advanced training missions. The Advanced Airlift Tactics Training Center (AATTC), known as the “Top Gun” for military airlift is located at the 139th AW. In addition to the AATTC which provides advanced training for multiple airlift platforms, the 139th is also home to the Air Force’s C-130H Weapons Instructor Course (WIC).
The Missouri AVCRAD provides depot repair for rotary wing aircraft, supporting 14 states across the central United States. The AVCRAD is one of four AVCRAD facilities in the United States in Connecticut, Mississippi, California and Missouri performing two combat service support (CSS) functions: maintenance and supply. It is responsible for limited depot aircraft maintenance, component repair, operation of a supply support activity, and aviation intermediate maintenance (AVIM).
Forbes Field is the headquarters of the Kansas National Guard and home to the Kansas Air National Guard’s 190th Air Refueling Wing. It occupies 215 acres on the south-side of the Topeka Airport, located approximately five miles south of downtown Topeka. The mission of the 190th is to “Provide a professionally trained militia, ready to serve community, state, and nation”. The 190th occupies seven administrative facilities, 16 industrial facilities, and two service facilities totaling approximately 523,100 square feet with 323 full time personnel. Unit training drills conducted once-a-month result in a surge of up to a total of 1,152 personnel. The 190th provides Global Reach for the United States Air Force through in-flight refueling of fighters, bombers, and other aircraft using the KC-135 tanker.
As the oldest continually operating U.S. military installation west of the Mississippi, Jefferson Barracks’ executes its core missions in the areas of Command & Control, Cyber, Intelligence, Communications and Civil Engineering. Jefferson Barracks units provide critical combat support capabilities to missions all over the globe, from those within the vast expanse of the Pacific Command, to those within the endless reach of Global Strike Command. The installation also possesses a number of unique communication and information technology capabilities that few other installations can provide to the Department of Defense.
Specializes in the rebuild of fully warranted (five years/1,400 hours), Air Gas Turbine 1500 M1 Abrams tank engine. The ATEAM also rebuilds the X1100-3B cross drive tank transmission and all related components, exceeding National Maintenance Work Requirements standards.
Smokey Hill Air National Guard Range near Salina, Kansas is the largest bombing range in the Air National Guard inventory. Within the Smokey Hill’s 34,000 acres lies a 12,000 acre target area, which is comprised of dual conventional ranges and three large tactical ranges. The tactical ranges provide the most realistic air-to-ground training available for all types of military aircraft. Smokey Hill also has four drop zones for cargo aircraft. In light of recent military technological applications, National Guard F-16s are being modified to deliver precision guided munitions providing pinpoint accuracy to destroy enemy targets. Smokey Hill is one of three Air National Guard air-to-ground ranges in the United States where pilots can practice these technological deliveries.
